You are right, Smiljan. She has a reason to be sad and bored, she is the Statue of Liberty and she is
stranded in America. The drawing of the copper face I did some 40 years ago - I was taken by the tectonic transport cage.
The 1885 statue by the sculptor Frédéric Bartholdi was transported as 300 copper plates from Paris to be assembled
with 300,000 rivets - only the nose had to be soldered on. The whole was hung on a frame by Gustav Eiffel.
Barthold had first proposed a giant figure 15 years earlier for the Suez Canal - New York was second choice.

Tienes razón, Smiljan. Tiene motivos para estar triste y aburrida, es la estatua de la Libertad y está atrapada en EE.UU. Hice el dibujo de este rostro de cobre hace 40 años, conmovido por su tectónica jaula de transporte. La escultura que el escultor Frédéric Bartholdi hizo en 1885 fue despachada desde París, trozada en 300 planchas de cobre que se ensamblaron luego con 300.000 remaches. Sólo la nariz fue soldada. Gustav Eiffel colgó luego el conjunto en un andamio. 15 años antes, Barthold ya había propuesto una figura gigantesca para el canal de Suez - en realidad Nueva York era una segunda opción.
